Olga Yadira Pendergrass

Yadira Pendergrass, 57, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in El Paso, Texas. A Memorial Service was held Sunday, September 6, 2009 at First Baptist Church in McAllen, Texas. Yadira was born on December 18, 1951 to Rafael and Eustacia Gaytan in Reynosa, Mexico. She taught Portuguese and Spanish in the Doctoral Program at Texas Tech while pursuing a PhD. Yadira also studied in Brazil and Spain. She taught several years at U. T. Pan American where she held Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree. Yadira also held a Bachelor’s Degree from Technological University of Coahuila, Saltillo, Mexico. She was a member of Who’s Who and the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. Survivors: husband of 31 years, Don Pendergrass; sons, Fletcher and Paul Pendergrass all of El Paso, Texas; 1 brother, 4 sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her caring and loving family. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
