Olga L. Navarrette

Heaven gained a beautiful angel on Saturday, November10, 2012 when Maria Olga Lopez Navarrette age 87 passed away surrounded by her loving family. She blessed all her family with her presence and her loving ways, with her unending compassion, consideration of others and unconditional love. Olga was born February 17, 1925 in El Paso, Texas to the late Jose Lopez Escalera and Raquel Boussett. In 1943 she was united in marriage to Jose Luis Navarrette. Olga “Olgita” retired from Popular Department Store, also worked for Winns, Sal Berroteran’s Photography, Leo’s Restaurant, Luby’s Cafeteria, K-Mart. She was involved with Title One Programs at Henderson Jr. High as a counselor with Santiago Romero, PTA, Cub Scouts. Went to school at El Paso High. She loved tennis and dancing. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Olga is survived by her husband, Jose Luis Navarrette Sr; her son, Joe L. Navarrette Jr. (Gloria); her son, Eddie D. Navarrette (Irene); her daughter, Virginia O. Navarrette; her seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Miguel, Mario, Juan, Alex, Virginia and Gloria Lopez all of El Paso. Thanks to Doctors and Nurses at Thomason and Providence, Always Caring for their many caregivers especially the late Maria Quiroga Contreras, Nicole and Heidi. Especially her nurse of seven years Gilbert Sapien. Visitation will be from 4-9 pm Thursday, November 15, 2012 with a vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass will be at 10 am Friday, November 16, 2012 at St. Raphael’s Parish. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
