Laura Mendoza Valdez peacefully passed away on Thursday, August 09, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family and is survived by her father, Stephen Mendoza; brothers, Steve Jr. and Manuel Mendoza; and her two children, Nellie Hathorn and John Valdez. She was also a loving grandmother of 5 to Ethan, Jake, Vincent, Ryan and Lauren. She will be missed by an overwhelming number of friends who will remember her as a caring, loving and giving person. For over 30 years she worked a Certified Medical Assistant where she retired from Texas Tech and was also a realtor. She was a graduate of the University of Phoenix with a BS degree in Business Administration. Throughout her life her books and her family were her passion as was a lifelong dream that was fulfilled when she traveled to Egypt with her two children. Memorial Visitation will be held Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 10 AM to 1 PM with a Memorial Service to begin at 11 AM at Sunset Funeral Home on 4631 Hondo Pass in Northeast El Paso.
