Ofelia Duran

March 29, 1933 — February 2, 2011

Ofelia (Mama) Loera Duran, 77, was chosen to walk through the gates of heaven on February 2, 2011. Lifelong resident of Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo Nation. She gave life to thirteen children, was a strong devoted mother and role model to her family and the community. She was “Mama” to all who were blessed to have known her. Survived by: Brother Roberto Loera, Sons: Tito, Jaime and Adolfo Jr. Duran, Daughters: Irene Gurrola, Yvonne Armstrong, Lupe, Rosa, Leticia, and Gloria Duran, 34 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren. She dedicated her time as an employee at Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo Administration for more than fifteen years. Mama was a loving person who was loved by many, she has left a void in all of our hearts but we know that she will be watching us from above. May the great spirits guide her through the heavens so that she will live among us forever. Pallbearers: Tito Duran, Ruben Arroyo, Jesse Sanchez, Joe Duran, Alvaro Gurrola Jr, Richard Duran, Arturo Roldan, Angel Duran, Roberto Loera, Rene Duran, Armando Duran Jr, Antonio Duran and Sai Soumpholphakdy. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Monday February 7, 2011 at Sunset Funeral home- Americas, Vigil Will be held at 7:00 pm. Monday February 7, 2011 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Mission). Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday February 8, 2011, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Mission). Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
