Norma G. Jones

August 11, 1964 — January 31, 2010

Norma Gail Jones, age 45, passed away at University Medical Center on Sunday, January 31st, 2010 following a four-year courageous battle with cancer. She was born on August 11, 1964 in El Paso, TX to Paul L. Harrison, Sr. and Juanita Frausto. She attended Rush Grade School and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1982. She married Tommie Lee Jones on September 30, 1988, out of that marriage four children were born, Salena, Dedric, Phillip and Mariah. Norma had been battling with breast cancer over the last 2+ years of her life. She fought with every ounce of her energy and never complained of her pain; no matter what medical obstacles came her way she always maintained a positive “I’m a Survivor” attitude and would always say “I’ll be aight”. Norma completed her purpose on Earth and Our Lord called her home to the Kingdom of God on January 31st, 2010 at 9:30 am. Norma was a beautiful, loving human being. Her positive energy and her love for life were obvious to all that had the pleasure and privilege of knowing her. Her laugh was contagious and her wit and sense of humor were quite refreshing. She was happiest when she was with all of those she loved; spending quality time with her family and friends was priceless. Norma and her mom Juanita were inseparable, two peas in the pod some might say and quite frequently you would see them hanging out at their favorite store…Wal-Mart. Her love of life included socializing, music and dancing, she was always the life of the party and boy could Norma dance! Smooth Jazz, R&B and of course Old School were her favorite types of music. She loved Tyler Perry and has a collection of all of his movies and stage plays. Her favorite TV shows were Tyler Perry’s House of Pain and Meet the Browns. She and her entire family recently attended a Tyler Perry stage play, Madea’s Big Happy Family. Norma also enjoyed watching CSI and Forensic Files. For the short period of time that she was here on Earth she touched and influenced many lives. She was an inspiration to and all she was always there to lend a helping hand. Her kind and compassionate ways were admirable and there are not enough adjectives to describe Norma’s beautiful spirit. We are sure she is in Heaven making everyone that much happier. We Love her and will greatly miss her, but have comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue through all those she influenced and touched. Norma is survived by a host of brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, God children and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Susan B.
