Natividad M. Montañez

Natividad Maysonet Montañez, affectionately known as Wela, passed away peacefully at her home in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by her loved ones on March 21, 2025. She was born on May 19, 1942, in Toa Baja (Sabana Seca), Puerto Rico, to Manuel and Marcela Maysonet. Wela's greatest joy and accomplishment in life was her family. Her home was a place of warmth and togetherness, where many cherished memories were made during family celebrations. She delighted in cooking for her loved ones, spreading joy through food, and spent many hours engaged in friendly games of Skip-Bo and Gin Rummy. Wela was also known for her love of collecting roosters and her bold sense of style, particularly in her animal print attire. Over the years, she provided us with many wonderful lessons to keep her legacy alive. She taught us to keep our priorities straight and focus on what truly matters – our family. The love, grace, and kinship she brought to this world were priceless and unmatched, and her absence leaves a void that cannot be easily filled. Wela will be fondly remembered by all as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, neighbor, and friend. The love, grace, and understanding she brought to this world was endless and priceless. Bigger than life itself; she will be dearly missed. Natividad was preceded in death by her husband, Candido Montañez, her parents, Manuel and Marcela Maysonet and her siblings, Julia and Felix Maysonet. She leaves behind a legacy of love and countless memories to be cherished by her children; Ivette Montañez (Esmie), Brunilda Montañez, Nylda Street (Ervin), Marisol Pacheco (Robert), Eddie Montañez (Dreina), Jasmine Medina (Javier), twenty grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, close relatives and close friends

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 8:00pm with a Prayer Service to begin at 6:00pm on Wednesday, April 02, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Funeral Service will be held at 9:00am on Thursday, April 03, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Home - Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Committal Service to follow at 10:00am on Thursday, April 03, 2025 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
