Nanette T. Creamer, born in El Paso, Texas on October 16, 1936 to parents to Jay and Earlie Turner. She was the baby of the family with two older brothers and her sister. At the age of 86, Nanette entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, May 9, 2023. She was a wonderful daughter, sister and aunt; and will be greatly missed.

Nanette attended Crockett Elementary School where she developed the love of reading. As a child, she enjoyed skating up and down the neighborhood and looked forward each year to May Day at Crockett when all the students would march around the school dressed in white and orange. The girls would perform a dance routine, and the boys participated in an exercise event in front of the school.

Nanette graduated from Austin High School in 1954 and then started college at Texas Western College. At Texas Western she participated in the Drum Corp and was active in the Gold Diggers. After two years of college, she married and began working in her father’s business. She also did some substitute teaching during this time.

Later on, she went back to school and graduated from Texas Western with a BS in Education and in 1974, received a Master of Education from UTEP. She taught at Aoy and Douglass Elementary Schools. After receiving her Master’s, she was offered a job in the El Paso Independent School District as a Teacher Leader for their Remedial Reading Program. During these years, she also served as a Consultant for English, Speech, Journalism and Academic Competition. She retired in 1997.

Nanette enjoyed traveling, reading and working. She busied herself by participating in Discover El Paso, UTEP Woman’s Auxiliary, and volunteering at Assistant League of El Paso.

Nanette is preceded in death by her dear parents; William Jay Turner and Earlie Kinne Turner. She is survived by her loving sister; Marjorie T. Boswell; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.
