Moses S Valdez

SGM Retired Moses S. Valdez passed away on Friday, February 8, 2008. He was born in Guaymas, Mexico on December 9, 1918. His choice for a military career began as a member of the CMTC Program at Ft. Huachuca, Arizona. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army for 32 years beginning as a member of the Arizona National Guard. During World War II, he served overseas at the Panama Canal and Europe. He was injured in France and received the Purple Heart. After retirement, Moe dedicated himself to volunteering with various organizations. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge and Knights of Columbus. His heart belonged to the Skyline Optimist Club, where he was an active member for 30 years. Moe was extremely proud to be part of a great organization that gave to the northeast community and the youth. He is survived by his wife Cleo and his children; Rose Marie Castaneda (Abie†), Stephen Valdez, Norma Martinez (Steven), Cynthia Aguilar (Willie), Susan Douglass (Jason), Rene Valdez, and Marco Valdez (Susan). He is also survived by his sister Carmen Lineiro. He is survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and many wonderful friends. He will be truly missed by all who loved and knew him. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast. Funeral Mass will be said on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Pallbearers will be his sons and sons-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Skyline Optimist Club. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with full military honors. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast.
