Modene Frances Weick, 94, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 from complications following a fall in her home on November 19, 2009. She was preceded in death by her husband, Art, daughter Sue, her parents Jim and Effie Pearl, and her three brothers A.J., Gene, and Tack. She is survived by her sister Flossie, her four children, Dene Ann, John “Tinker”, Jean, and David and her daughter-in-law, Davette; seven grandchildren, Sherry, Ken, Kyle, Sabrina, Chance Brandon and Stephanie. She leaves behind eleven great-grandchildren; Burn, Sky, Autumn, Breezy, Sarah, Rory, Ryan, Emma, Alyssa, David Lee, and Sean. She is survived by 5 great-great grandchildren; Austin, Hailey, Wyatt, Kenneth and Shad. Granny was an avid reader; she believed that reading was the most important skill a person could possess. She enjoyed family meals, baking, puzzle solving, watching T.V. game shows, sewing, crocheting, and embroidering. She enjoyed listening to music, on her Bose radio (especially news and football games), and her favorite CD’s. Her family appreciates those people who either assisted her or visited her on a regular basis during her declining years; Inos Cardiel, Hortencia Enciso, Betty and Darl Dove, Mary Warren, Sally Robinson, Irma Johnson, Evelyn and Jim Pofahl, Marilyn and Howard Patton, and Chuck Canada. We are grateful for the wonderful nursing staff at Del Sol Medical Center for the loving care that they gave her. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Center, any animal group, or a favorite charity or church. According to her wishes, she will have a graveside service at Restlawn Cemetery on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 2:30 pm . Service will be conducted by Rev. Howard Patton of Zion Lutheran Church.
