Mike Duran, 71, a lifelong resident of Socorro, Texas, passed away on November 13, 2011. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and the owner-operator of Mike Duran Trucking for 35 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carmen Duran, and his children, Rebecca Balderrama (George), Larry Duran, Debra Ortiz (Ernie), Jo Anne Duran, Barbara Balderrama (Joe), Linda Duran, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, four siblings, Conrado Duran, Antonio Duran, Rosie Tellez and Emma Hernandez. Pallbearers: Brian Candelaria, Justin Ortiz, Montana Duran, Luis Duran, Alberto Garcia Jr, Dakota Balderrama. Honorary Pallbearers: Michael Candelaria, Joe Balderrama Jr, George Balderrama Jr.,A special thanks to his doctors for their compassion and empathy; Dr. Tan, Dr. Calianga, Dr. Ali. “The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.” Elisabeth Kübler-Ross “Survivor 77” Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas. Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 at La Purisima Mission Hall Catholic Church. Interment will be held private. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
