Miguel Ortega

Miguel Ortega, 92, passed away on Wed, May 11, 2017. Mike was born in El Paso, TX on May 8 1925. He attended Bowie High School and then left to serve his country proudly in the United States Army. A veteran and P.O.W. of WWII and a Bronze Star Medal recipient. Mike retired from Southern Union Gas Co., as a meter reader after 35 faithful years. He is preceded in death by his parents; Lorenzo and Petra Ortega, and brothers and sisters Manuel Ortega, Maria Luisa Garcia, Alicia Ortega, and Enrique Ortega. He is survived by Marcela Sanchez, Herlinda Ortega, Elena Telles, Roberto Ortega, and Julieta Garcia. Also by 8 nephews, and 6 nieces. Our sincere thanks to all his health providers, Del Sol Medical Center, Comfort Keepers, and Gentiva Hospice. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Funeral Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Saint Ignatius Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
