Miguel Orona Alvarez, 96, of El Paso, Texas entered the hands of the Lord on February 19, 2023.
Miguel was proceeded in death by his parents; Victor & Catarina Alvarez, of Marfa, TX; and his wife, Enriquetta Alvarez; his children, Mick Alvarez, Susan Martinez and Gary Alvarez.
He is survived by his 8 children; Mary Herring, Chandler, TX, Blanche Alvarez, El Paso, TX, Lois Benitez, El Paso, TX, Harry Alvarez, Texas City, TX, Paul Alvarez, Garland, TX, Robert Alvarez, El Paso, TX, Gene Alvarez, Garland, TX, Priscilla Moreno, El Paso, TX and his 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Miguel was born December 31, 1926 in Marfa, TX. Shortly after marrying the love of his life, he enlisted & served in the United States Army during WWII. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending his church Cristo Rey, and spent his Sundays cheering on America’s Team, The Dallas Cowboys.
He was a lifelong mechanic at heart. When he wasn’t working, he was busy helping others repair and maintain their vehicles. He also enjoyed the sounds of the slot machines at the casino.
He dedicated himself to his family, was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday, March 10, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will follow at 1:15 PM at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 8011 Willamette. Interment will follow at 2:30 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.
