Miguel Herrera would like to let you know that his work here is done. Early Wednesday morning, on May 25th, he received a call with the kind of offer that you could not refuse, one that we will all become familiar with some day. One thing you must know about Miguel, is that he was a man who felt strongly about his faith. During his last days he let his loved ones know that it was almost his time. He made it clear that he was eager to rejoice in eternal life alongside his Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born in San Francisco del Oro, Chihuahua, Mexico, on January 1st, 1934 and was one of the youngest of eight siblings. At a young age he met a beautiful green-eyed woman, Manuela “Nelly”. They fell in love, got married, started a family and became long-time residents of Sunland Park, NM. From that family came five beautiful, strong-willed women. They inherited the dignified, caring, and humble attributes from their mother and they got their strong-will, integrity, independence (and stubbornness) from their father. The love of his life and wife of sixty years passed away on January 18, 2020. His light dimmed, but he kept a smile and a strong face for his bereaved daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He did not let them feel empty. He did not let them go without. He held on as long as he could, with a broken heart, for his family. To say he was ready and eager to reunite with his wife is an understatement.
Miguel Herrera is survived by his five daughters; Olga Acosta, Carolina De Los Prados, Ana Bonillo, Christina Torres, and Patricia Miranda. Son-in-laws; Jose Acosta, Leonard De Los Prados, Christian Bonillo, René Miranda, and the late Michael Torres.
