Miguel Contreras Sarmiento

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, husband and brother and father- n-law, Grandpa to some and Papa Mikey to others. He loved dearly and was loved dearly by many. From the unconditional love he had for his wife of 62 years, to the bond with his grandchildren, to drinks with the boys, Fred and frank, to talking with his sister J.J and his cousin Freddy on the phone, he was always the one to turn to for guidance and comfort.

He passed along one of the hardest work ethics anyone has ever seen. The light he shined on everyone it was contagious, his love of music and singing is carried by some of his grandchildren will live on. He was Never angry or judgmental, just a pure and kind soul you were blessed to cross paths with. 

He was so proud of the life he built for himself and his family and proud to have accomplished anything he set his mind too. “Living in his glory days”, as he would say. He was the perfect role model for all and always taught right from wrong. 

His dream was to sing again, and we know he is at peace now, singing with the angels. Until we see and hear you again, we will always miss you and love you dearly.

A very special thank you to Dr. Becerra, his sisters Ruby and Natalia for always taking care of him.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Friday, November 18, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Chapel Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East. Graveside Service to follow at 11:30 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
