Michael Martin Torres

My loving husband, my best friend, Michael M. Torres lost his battle with cancer on June 10, 2008. Michael was born on November 12, 1968, in Albuquerque, NM. Michael graduated from Parkland High School in 1986 and then attended the University of Texas at El Paso. In 1992, Michael became a proud member of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. He began his law enforcement career in the County Jail. In 1994, Michael promoted to Deputy and patrolled the Upper Valley for several years while also becoming a SWAT member. In 1998, Michael promoted to detective and was later assigned to the Special Operations Division where he continued to serve until a couple of weeks before his passing. Michael also took great pride in coaching for the Northeast Raiders Football Team for approximately 5 years. He is survived by his wife, Rae E. Torres; his children, Anthony R. Torres and Jadyn N. Torres; his mother, Marylou Torres; his brother, Antonio Torres; his sister, Teresa R. Contreras, as well as countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family at the El Paso Sheriff’s Office. We will celebrate and remember Michael’s life at Christ the Savior Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm, Thursday, June 12, 2008, at Christ the Savior Catholic Church with a vigil at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday, June 13, 2008 at Christ the Savior Catholic Church. Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family ask that in Iieu of flowers, remembrance be made to M.D. Anderson in Houston, TX. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.
