Michael Hernandez

Michael Hernandez, a lifelong El Pasoan, was born on September 28, 1974 and passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, October 17, 2021. Mike was deeply devoted to his family and work. Always respectful and considerate of others, his quiet demeanor and sense of humor won the admiration and love of his many friends and coworkers. Mike was a graduate of Burges High School, Class of 1993. He worked 15 years for LabCorp, first as a courier, then as a lab technician after earning his Associate's Degree. Most recently, he was a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service at the Sandy Creek Station. Mike spent his free time reading and listening to music, especially The Beatles, which he often played on the piano and guitar. Of his many hobbies, Mike's true passion was in restoring vintage Volkswagen Buses and Bugs. He had the vision, skill, knowledge, and perseverance to see his works of art through to completion. Mike was preceded in death by his grandmother, Luz D. Acosta and his father, Miguel F. Hernandez. He is survived by his mother, Celia Acosta Hernandez; sister, Corina Hernandez; nephew, Andres Garcia, Jr; aunts and cousins. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Scripture Service at 6:00 PM on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina.
