On the morning of May 29, 2022, Mera Dean Kennedy peacefully passed away with her daughter by her side.
Mera Dean Brown was born on April 20, 1933 in Lewisburg, Kentucky to Scott and Ruby Brown. She attended Murray State School of Nursing and graduated September 1954. Four years later, she married Major Robert E. Kennedy on October 19, 1958. They went on to have two daughters: Shawn and Candace. After many years of traveling with the Army, Mera and family settled in El Paso, Texas. In El Paso, she was an active bowler and a part of Good Sam’s, often camping thru out the Southwest with Bob. In 2020, Mera moved to Phoenix, Arizona to be closer to her daughter, Shawn, and family.
Mera D. Kennedy is preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Kennedy, her parents Scott and Ruby Brown, her sisters Rebecca Croslin, Betty Jo Whitmire, and Myrtle Jean Shrull, and her brother William Brown.
She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Robert and Barbara Brown, sister-in-law Tommye Brown, daughters Shawn Lyons and Candace Warren, son-in-laws Steve Lyons and Steve Warren, granddaughters Samantha Zedric and Sarah Lyons, grandson-in-laws Andrew Zedric and Jimmy Lavery, great-grandchildren Steven and Emily Zedric, as well as nieces and nephews.
Services are as followed:
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a Funeral Service at 12:30 PM, Wednesday, June 08, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-East, 750 N. Carolina. Interment to follow at 2:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
