Melvin Kealoha Bell, Jr., passed away peacefully in El Paso, Texas on Tuesday, May 17, 2011, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 10, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii to Melvin Kealoha Bell, Sr. and the late Laura Lani Gartrell. He was the beloved husband of Son Hui and father of Nicholas. Melvin is survived by his father, step-mother Norine, brothers Edward Haley of Tucson, AZ, Robert Bell of Westminster and John Bell of Long Beach, CA, and loving sisters Laura Cormack of Orem, UT, Janet Anderson, Sandi Koengeter, and Rita Mayer of San Diego, CA, and Elaine Geiger of Odessa, TX, and numerous family members. Melvin served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1969, and served a tour in Vietnam. He received a BA in Mathematics, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Hawaii. He was employed as an Electrical Civil Engineer with the Army Corps of Engineers.
He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with his son. He touched the lives of many with his smile and generosity while maintaining his trademark sense of humor. Melvin travelled the world extensively during his life.
