Mary Bob Patterson Sanders, RN, age 81 of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully Friday, March 24, 2017 in the comfort of home while surrounded by her children. Mary was born September 10, 1935 in Anna, Illinois. She grew up in Bowling Green, Kentucky before moving to Danville where she graduated high school in 1953. She was described as an excellent student, was a member of the school's Beta Honor Club, and finished fourth highest in her class of 60. Following high school she graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois. She gave so much to so many during in her nursing career, first at Providence Memorial Hospital in El Paso, then later in the practice of Dr. Byron Chesbro and others before retiring in 2001. She never stopped encouraging and inspiring those interested in nursing.
As an active member of University Presbyterian Church her faith was undeniable. She served as an elder and enjoyed playing weekly dominoes. She loved the Franklin Mountains, tending to her flower gardens and creating wreaths. She always looked forward to her annual camping trip where she cherished time spent with family. She enjoyed boat riding, water skiing and swimming at Lake Sam Rayburn. Her caring heart, genuine smile, and sweet spirit were known by all.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Presbyterian Minister R.C. Patterson and Mayme Rutledge Patterson, and brother-in-law Jay Huskey.
Mary is survived by her children, son Michael Sanders and wife Susan of Poway, California, son Timothy Sanders of Tucson, Arizona, daughter Sherri Sanders of Tucson, Arizona, and daughter Kristi Jackson and husband Bruce of Leander, Texas; Grandsons Taylor Sanders and Garrett Sanders, both of Santa Clarita, California, granddaughter Maryssa Rosado of Tucson, Arizona, and granddaughter Makenna Jackson of Leander, Texas; sister Patricia Pesl and husband Robert of Pasadena, Texas, and sister Ann Huskey of Bowling Green, Kentucky. She is also survived by many loving nephews, a niece, cousins, and many friends.
