Mary Alice Roper

MARY A. ROPER passed away March 3rd in El Paso, Texas where she had resided for 48 years. She was born on March 17, 1938 in Marietta, S. C. and is survived by her son (Roger), daughter (Susan), son-in-law (Erik), seven grandchildren (Kyle, Brittany, Nicole, Evan, Juan Carlos, Rene, Fabian) and one great-granddaughter (Zoe). She was preceded in death by her husband, B.J., after 61 years of marriage. As a military wife, Mary traveled extensively around the world and lived in both Europe and Asia. She enjoyed exploring the cultures and meeting people of many different countries. She loved bowling, cooking, playing bridge, water skiing and in later life painting, snow skiing and white water rafting. Mary ultimately retired in El Paso with B.J where they enjoyed many years together watching their family grow. She worked mostly as a homemaker but also obtained her Associates Degree in Accounting and worked for a time in that field Mary was a woman of much grace and strength and she touched many lives with her warmth, acceptance and loving spirit. There have been many that have been blessed to know her and be loved by her. A memorial service will take place on March 22nd at 4:00 pm at Shiloh Baptist Church in Marietta, S.C. with reception immediately following. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N.
