Mary Alicia McGrath Jacobs

Mary Alicia McGrath Jacobs, 88, of El Paso, Texas, passed away July 18th, 2008, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 5th, 1919, to the parents of Patrick and Elizabeth McGrath of Montclair, New Jersey. She is preceded in death by her parents and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband, Willie Neal Jacobs, and five children; Mary Elizabeth Berger, Julia Marie Jacobs, Trisha Ann Blocher, William Joseph Jacobs, and Michael Joseph Jacobs. She also had nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Mary graduated from St. Mary’s College of Nursing in Orange, New Jersey and served her country as a member of the Army Nurse Corps in WWII where she met and married Willie Jacobs during her service. After retiring from the military, she was very active in the community. Throughout the years, Mary served as President of the Diocese Council of Women, President of the Garden Club, and President of Blessed Sacrament Altar Society. After raising her five children, Mary returned to public health services and started the WIC program. Following her retirement, she was the Chairman of the El Paso Health Fair for many years. She enriched the lives of many people and will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Visitation from 5:00-9:00 pm, and rosary at 7:00 pm will be held in her honor at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast on Monday, July 21st, 2008. Funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008 at 10:00 AM. Immediately following the mass the burial will take place at Ft.
