Mary Catherine (Honey) McBee, cherished for her roles as a daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on Thursday, March 21, 2024. Honey, a graduate of Austin High School (Class of 1949) and Texas Western College (Class of 1953), dedicated over three decades of her life to teaching in the El Paso Independent School District. Her passions included traveling, playing bridge, reading, crossword puzzles, mahjong, and bingo.
Honey was born into the loving family of Harold and Margariete Morrissey. She was the beloved wife of the late William McBee and sister to the late Harold Morrissey, Jr. Her life was also touched by loss through the passing of her nephew Kevin R. White and niece Nancy S. Lutz. Honey’s life was rich in family and friendship. She leaves behind her dear sister Margaret Morrissey White, along with a legacy through her nieces and nephews: Father J. Michael Morrissey, J. David Morrissey, Thomas C. Morrissey, Linda G. Baronsky, M. Kathleen Morrissey, R. Erin Hirzel, and Edana M. Slaight. Honey's memory will also live on through her great-nieces, great-nephews, and friends who found joy and inspiration in her presence.
To celebrate her life and honor her memory, a celebration will take place in June. The details of the service will be shared at a later date. The Sunset Funeral Home-West at 480 N. Resler Dr. has been entrusted with the arrangements. Honey's spirit and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew her, as we continue to cherish and reflect upon the many happy moments shared. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Good Samaritan for their compassionate care and support provided to Honey during her final years.
