Mary Joe Broderick loving mother, grandmother, and friend went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at the age of 90. She was born and raised in Alabama. As a young woman she served her country by enlisting in the Marine Corp. Her leadership qualities were evident when she was chosen as Vice-Commander of American Legion Tarrant Post No. 113. Mary Joe was the first woman in the Tarrant Post that was a veteran of the Marine Corp. Later in life she married and moved to El Paso. She had three beautiful children, whom she taught to be strong, yet caring. She is now reunited with her beloved daughter Barbara Annette and is survived by her children Timothy Patrick Broderick, Mary Ellen Vargas and her husband Oscar, grandchildren Nicole Schilling, Amanda Burt and her husband Alex, Bo Wilson, Sean Patrick Broderick, Melody Vargas, Henry Vargas and Diana Vargas. Mary Joe will be missed dearly, but lives on in her children and grandchildren. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass. Committal Services will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Military Honors.
