Mary A. Bonilla, 74, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2017.
Mary was born in Big Spring, TX on November 19, 1943. She graduated from Big Spring High School and then left to serve her country in the United States Women's Army Corp. She then went on to graduate from Howard College School of Nursing where her nursing career began.
Mary worked as a registered nurse in the ICU for William Beaumont Army Medical Center in Ft Bliss, Texas for twenty two years and retired from nursing in 2004.
She loved singing in the USASMA choir, playing bells for the Ft Bliss Bell Choir and teaching Children's' Church at the USASMA Memorial Chapel at Ft Bliss.
Mary was preceded in death by her father Clarence Yanez and her mother Isabel Ramirez; step-father Louis Ramirez; sister Josephine Calderon; brothers Felix Hilario, Richard Hilario, Chon Yanez and David Virgil Yanez. She leaves behind her husband of 39 years Merardo "Mano" Bonilla; daughter, Sandra Esposito and sons; James Mcintosh and wife Sue; Dennis Bonilla and wife Marci; sisters, Ruth Calderon, Lisa Rodriguez, and Kathy Hunter of Big Spring, and Louise Ramirez of San Antonio; brothers, John Hilario of Dallas and Pros and Oscar Yanez of Big Spring. She also leaves behind six grandchildren; Joey, Elizabeth, Logan, Matthew, Billy and Trevor.
Gathering of Remembrance will be from 5:00pm-9:00pm with Reflection of Life beginning at 7:00pm on Thursday, January 11 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Scripture Service will begin at 12:30pm on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
