Mary Branch Bayer September 26, 1927—February 26, 2022 Mary Branch Bayer, 94, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 26, 2022. She was a wonderful mother, wife, daughter, sister, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Conway Whittle and Marion Eugenia Cooke, husband Charles Reese Fleming, son John Fleming, and sister Elizabeth Hoover. She is survived by her children Charles (Pete) Fleming, James Fleming, Elizabeth Dinsmoor (Bill), Kathleen Luciano (John), and Richard Fleming (Sandy); niece Ann Bland; thirteen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many other extended family members and friends to cherish and honor her memory. Mary spent her career working for the Department of the Army as a civil servant supporting her country. Her 45-year career took her from the Pentagon to Fort Bliss, Texas. While at Fort Bliss, in addition to her work requirements, she served as the President of the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE). She retired in 1994 and spent her retirement years gardening, swimming, traveling, and playing lots of golf. Mary’s memorial service will be held on Monday, March 14, 2022, at 11:00 am at Sunset Funeral Home-West, 480 N. Resler. A graveside service will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Road. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home.
