Marta Kathleen Crouch

March 17, 1947 – January 15, 2024

Marta Kathleen (aka Kathy) Crouch, 76, of El Paso, TX passed away on January 15, 2024. Her husband, Jerry Crouch was right by her side as she took her last breath.  During their 54-year marriage, Kathy supported her husband's ambitions of starting a new business.  From having a thermos of hot coffee ready to go at 5 am with a kiss on the cheek to managing payroll for all the employees, there was no job that was too big or too small.  Kathy and Jerry’s marriage was truly one of dedication, respect, and real love that will continue to live for an eternity.

Kathy was also a devoted mother to Jack Crouch of El Paso, TX.  Upon her death, Jack’s mind was flooded with all the good memories his mom provided for him.  From the Halloween costumes she hand sewed, to the mom and son trip to Six Flags, to attending Jack’s first rock concert, RATT, with earplugs in hand, to the elaborate party she threw for Jack when he graduated from El Paso Fire Department academy, to the wedding she designed for him and her daughter-in-law, Nancy (the archway, the flowers, the cake, the food, the party favors)…so many memories to cherish.

The role of grandmother is what Kathy will be remembered for most. On the first day of meeting her first grandchild, Joseph Vasquez, she made him feel like family.  There was no such word as “step” grandchildren in her book. Kathy made sure every holiday was designed and delivered to be unforgettable.  Every birthday included a card that was purposefully chosen with the right words to express her love for you.  Every Christmas gift was wrapped with intentionally selected paper and hand strung bows.  She always made you feel special no matter the day.

Her first granddaughter, Katrina (Kathy’s childhood name sake), was the apple of her eye.  As Katrina’s first caregiver, Kathy was an integral part of forming the precious first three years of her childhood learning.  Kathy gave Katrina the gift of creativity, patience, and kindness.  There were no arts and crafts projects that had too much glitter, too many gems, or too few feathers; there was no movie that was watched or book that was read too many times; there was never enough blankets for the forts and tents built on the living floor; there were never enough hugs, kisses, or “I love yous” to be given; there will never be enough time in the world for Kathy to know how much Katrina adored her.

We will always remember our beloved wife, mom, and grandma. The family has comfort in knowing that she has been reunited with her parents James and Mary Clark, and her brothers, John, Jim, Bill, and Chris.

The family has elected not to have services.  In leu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association.
