Marlin Lavon Adams

September 4, 1933 — October 13, 2009

Marlin L. Adams was born in Brookhaven, Mississippi, on September 4, 1933 and went to be with the Lord on October 13, 2009 surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was known by friends and family as “Fish”, “M.L.”, Dad, or simply Grandpa. He served his country proudly in the Air Defense Artillery Branch of the United States Army for thirty years with assignments in Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Germany, and various Forts and Camps throughout the United States. He found a home during his travels at Fort Bliss, Texas, and retired from the Army in 1986. Whether he was honing his golfing skills with friends at the Underwood Golf Complex or making new friends during his travels in Northeast El Paso, he left a lasting impression of a man who loved life and his family. We will miss him, his passion for the game of golf, his booming voice, and his larger-than-life personality. Marlin is preceded in death by his brother, Nathaniel, and sisters Geneva and Ruth Antoinette Marie. He is survived by his wife, Benita, four sons, Marlin Jr., Lamar, Gabriel, and Edward, his daughter, Olivia, eight grandchildren, five sisters, Juanita, Evelyn, Clementine, Daisy, and Betty, and one brother, Farries Jr. Viewing will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Sunday, October 18, 2009, and the Scripture Service at 1:00 pm on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass.
