Mark A. Tapia, Son, Husband, Dad, “Papa”, Brother, Friend - passed away January 20th, 2024, in Dallas, TX. – He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Rene, their son, Christopher Palani Tapia, as well as his mother, Yolanda Monsisvais, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended members, and life-long friends. Born and raised in El Paso, Mark proudly embodied the characteristics of most El Pasoans: friendly, welcoming, generous. Following his graduation from Austin High School, Mark served in the U.S. Navy. While stationed in Hawaii, Mark met his future bride. He was most proud of his family and his work helping people at the Social Security Administration. Mark was accepting of everyone; he bore no judgement or ill will towards anyone. Even from his hospital bed, Mark was a devoted (sometimes obnoxious) fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He loved to play golf and softball. One of his greatest pastimes was heckling the Mexican wrestlers at the Lucha Libre. Mark, Nino Mark, Uncle Mark, Compadre – We already miss you and will continue to do so always. You will be front of mind at all family gatherings and anytime Pepe or Chente come on, we will be thinking of you. If you knew Mark well enough to have a picture of him or with him, please bring a copy to the services for his guestbook so his wife and son can share in those memories forever.
