Marjorie Kathryn Wootton

Marjorie Pifer Wootton (Marge) was born on September 30, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio to parents Kathryn and Amos Pifer. She graduated from Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio in 1949. Marjorie moved to California with her family where she lived and worked in Sacramento and San Francisco. She married Thomas P. Wootton in 1963. They lived in Dacca, East Pakistan, where he worked and traveled extensively. She came to El Paso with her husband in 1972, where he was employed by International Boundary and Water Commission. Marjorie loved playing golf; she was formerly a member of El Paso Country Club and Santa Teresa Country Club Ladies Golf Associations. She also loved to watch her Godson, George Vital compete in golf tournaments and traveled with him about the country. She was a member of Assistance League of El Paso since 1980, served as President for two terms, and took most pride in her work as Co-Chair of the Capital Campaign which was successful in purchasing the current Assistance League facility. She was also a member of Western Hills United Methodist Church since 1973. Mrs. Wootton is preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Thomas P. Wootton, by her parents Kathryn and Amos Pifer, and by her brother, Robert Pifer. She is survied by her dear Godson, George Vital, and his mother and dearest friend, Josefina Alvarado. She is also survived by her nieces, Sandra Pifer, Lacey Wootton-Don, Karen Wootton, Kim Egan, Hillary Wootton and nephew, Robert Pifer, sister-in-law, Lu Wootton. Memorials in Margie’s name can be made to Assitance League of El Paso or Western Hills United Methodist Church Foundation. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Sunset Funeral Home-West. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, April 18, 2008 at Western Hills United Methodist Church. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-West.
