Marjorie R. Andresen

Marjorie R. Andresen passed away in the early morning of July 10, 2007. She was 87. Marjorie R. Andresen grew up in Colorado Springs and moved to Washington D.C. during World War II. She served as a secretary to General Walker and General Billy Mitchell. After the war she worked as a designer for Sweetbriar Department Store in Denver and in 1952 married Dr. A. W. Andresen, a Presbyterian minister. After spending some years in Europe and New England, they moved to El Paso in 1960. She subsequently vacationed in Europe several times and had the opportunity to visit her ancestral castle in Rathdrum, County Wicklow, Ireland. In the 1970’s, Dr. and Mrs. Andresen also lived in Baja California for a short period of time before they returned to El Paso so that Marjorie could be near her grandchildren. Marjorie graduated with honors from Texas Western University with a degree in English and authored three books; one, “Bad Penny” was published by the Santa Fe Press. She also published several poems, one won a national contest. Marjorie was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She did volunteer work with the disadvantaged and served as a tutor to children with special needs. She was preceded in death by her husband, to whom she was married over 54 years before he was killed last June in a pedestrian accident in front of their home. Marjorie Andresen Is survived by her son, Ted, President of Andresen and Company, and wife, Dorothy; her daughter, Andrea Geiger, an attorney in Washington, D.C., and husband, Richard; her granddaughter, Laura Robles, and husband, Sal; her grandson, Andrew Andresen, and wife, Isabel; and her great grandson, Andrew. A graveside service will be conducted at Fort Bliss National Cemetery at 10:30 AM on Monday, July 16, 2007.
