Marisela left us too soon, and unexpectedly, late August of 2024 in California. She had recently battled breast cancer and was declared cancer free early June 2024. Marisela lived a lot of life in her 55 years, and will be terribly missed.
Marisela was born in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico in April of 1969 to Rafa and Juanita Tovar, and was the eldest of 6 children. Marisela and her parents moved to El Paso when she was 2 years old and she stayed in El Paso until her mid 30's. She had 3 beautiful children in El Paso whom she loved fiercely.
Marisela met her husband in El Paso. She married in 2004 and promptly moved to Ridgecrest, California. Marisela spent her time raising her children, attending field trips, and volunteering at schools. She was blessed with 3 grandchildren and participated in the majority of their school functions as well. Marisela loved and cared for dogs, turtles, chickens, lizards, a rabbit, and other furry friends.
Marisela's adventurous spirit led to her love for travel. She loved to walk the various cities, tried all the local cuisine, and always made time to try the local beer, wine, and drinks. She did not pass up opportunities to travel with friends and family and her arm did not need to be twisted to meet friends or family in Las Vegas.
Marisela is survived by her husband Gerald, her children David (Maria), Danny, and Gyana. Her grandchildren Julissa, Anthony, and Leilani. Her parents, Rafa and Juanita. Her siblings Lorie (Sal), Yadira (Daniel), Araceli, Zulema, and Junior (Gabby); and many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces, and dear friends.
Marisela will ultimately be remembered as a loving person, that was so full of life. She did everything to the fullest - she sang her oldies loud, laughed wholeheartedly, danced like no one was watching, and loved her family, and friends intensely. She brightened up every room she was in and made friends everywhere she went. She was truly one of a kind.
As we struggle dealing with such a huge loss, we find peace and comfort knowing she has touched our lives and left an indelible print that we carry with us always.
Those wishing to honor Marisela's memory, may contribute to a wildlife rehab center Gyana volunteers at and where Marisela had planned to volunteer herself.
