Marie Fabela

Marie Fabela, 71, a warrior in God’s hands, was called home to heaven on Monday, September 11, 2023 at home surrounded by her family and beloved, after a year long battle with cancer. Marie was a lifelong member of the Catholic Church and served in many ministries throughout her life, most recently serving at Corpus Christi Parish for over 30 years. Her family was her greatest joy and she dedicated her life to caring for them. Affectionately known as Granny, she welcomed all to her home with a smile and a warm meal. 

Married to Hector for 46 years, they raised a family of five children and enjoyed the blessings of 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren: Marie Oropeza (Nathan, Cauy, Gabriel, Idaly), Angie Fabela and partner Ray Velarde (April, Albert, Amanda, Jasmine), Adrian Fabela (Roxanne, Adrian, Andrea), Veronica Guerra, Sara Hernandez and partner Sergio Campos (Desiree, Katelyn, Valerie, Ryan).

She is preceded in death by her loving mother Soledad Bailon and devoted son-in-law Alejandro Guerra.

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Rosary starting at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 18, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907. A Mass will begin at 9:30 AM on Tuesday, September 19, 2023  at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 9205 North Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907. A Graveside will follow at 10:45 AM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, Texas 79907. Services entusted to Sunset Funeral Home- Americas.
