Maria D. Valenzuela, 88, Loving wife, mother, and grandmother passed away, peacefully on July 11, 2009. She was born in El Paso, Texas on April 3, 1921. She is survived by her husband Silvestre A. Valenzuela, her children: Danny Flores (Rosie), Henry Valenzuela (Wanda), Aurora Kelly (Ted), Cecilia Pena (Epi), Johnny Valenzuela (Irene) and Silver Valenzuela (Stephan), her 19 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and her sister Fernanda Portillo.
Grandma loved to crochet and many were blessed with her perfect tablecloths. She spoiled all of her grandchildren with special attention, and everyone with her awesome cooking and loving and caring ways. She had a special love of birds and plants.
As an Eastern Star, she volunteered endlessly to transport crippled children to burn and orthopaedic hospitals across the country, and nothing would make Grandma happier than to be remembered by a contribution to the Shriners Hospitals for Children. (www.shrinershospitals.org). Arrangements entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
