Maria E. Smith

Maria Elena Smith, 47, devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother, passed away in the early hours of Sunday, December 23, 2018. She passed away in her home with her loved ones. Maria was born in El Paso, Texas on February 14, 1971 to Kenneth and Francisca Beaman. She is a proud alumna of Andress High School and El Paso Community College. She bled maroon and gold. More than anything else, she loved her sons, Mychael and Damon. Maria spent most of her career with the El Paso Independent School District,where she met countless friends and touched many lives. Through her brave battles with cancer, she inspired her students and her peers. Maria is survived by her parents, Ken and Francisca Beaman; her children, Mychael and Damon Smith; her daughter-in-law, Amanda Curry-Smith; her sister, Aurelia Lira, and the love of her life, her grandson, Tristan Kenneth Smith. She also leaves behind many friends and relatives. Maria's visitation will be on Wednesday, January 2 at 5 p.m. at the North- east Sunset Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be on Thursday, January 3 at 10 a.m at Most Holy Trinity Church, and her burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery immediately following her funeral service.
