Maria D.S. Sanchez

Maria “Mary” Salazar Sanchez earned her angel wings on March 28th, 2021. Mary was born in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 14th, 1954 to the late Ramon and Cecilia Salazar. She married Gerardo “Jerry” Sanchez June 26th, 1992. She was a proud alumnus of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic School and 1972 graduate of Ysleta HS. After 34 years as a secretary in the medical maintenance department at WBAMC she retired in December 2010. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Sanchez, stepson Jerry Jr. (Leticia), brothers Ramon (Sylvia), Edward (Mary), Louis (Yvonne), Antonio (Rebecca), and sister Cecilia Salazar (son Alejandro Andres), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Services by Sunset Funeral Homes – East (Carolina), on April 8th, Visitation from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM followed by recitation of the rosary. Mass of the Resurrection on April 9th at 9:30 AM at St. Raphael’s Parish followed by burial at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (limited to 10 immediate family members only). She endured a long battle with lupus, she was a fighter and a faithful woman of God. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to The Lupus Foundation of America in her memory. She was a vivacious woman who treated her friends as family and whose impact on those whose lives she entered cannot be expressed in words. She will forever live in our hearts.
