With great sorrow we announce our mother’s passing on October 1, 2024. She was born in La Junta, Colorado and is preceded in death by her husband, Natividad Portillo, and her parents Pablo and Manuela Morales. She is the last survivor of eight siblings.
Mrs. Portillo settled in El Paso and lived a lifetime of work and dedication to helping others. As a parent, she was a constant provider, and an example of endurance: “never give up in life, strive through daily struggles, and persevere”. A forever reminder to always greet others with a “have a good day.” She was an example of service to others and to God in her church, whether cooking for others, teaching Bible School to children, or embroidering gifts such as blankets, dish cloths for her family and friends with personalized messages: always involved in the next embroidery project.
Mrs. Portillo’s journey ended here on earth, but her presence remains with those of us who have known and loved her for a lifetime: family and friends.
