Maria Isabel Madrid, 70, passed away on November 18, 2023. She was born on March 11, 1953 in El Paso, Texas, where she lived all her life. Isabel graduated from Ysleta High School and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at El Paso. She went on to  become a special education teacher before giving up her career to dedicate her life to caring for her special needs daughter.  Isabel was an amazing woman who was incredibly dedicated to and proud of her family. Everyone she talked to for more than a passing hello knew that her oldest daughter is a dedicated teacher, her son an attorney, her youngest daughter a special needs person with a heart of gold, and her husband a dedicated spouse and father. She learned the names of everyone she met and had a talent for getting people to share intimate details about their lives. And she was always excited to show everyone pictures of her children, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She loved holidays and birthdays, always celebrating midnight to midnight, and would call her loved ones often, sometimes multiple times a day. Isabel was a strong woman who could be stubborn and opinionated, but she was always loving, caring, and the most empathetic person you would ever meet. At the end of the day, her decisions were always guided by her faith in God and her love for her family. Isabel is preceded in death by her parents, Carlos and Concepcion Caballero, as well as her brother Eduardo Caballero. Her sister, Dolores Galaviz, joined her in Heaven two days after she passed away. She leaves behind her loving husband of 44 years, Gerard Madrid, daughters, Rebecca and Vanessa, son, Carlos, daughter-in-law, Anna, four grandchildren, Skye, Noah, Natalia, and Carlos Jr., six brothers, two sisters, and many Godchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with a Rosary at 6:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes—East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, November 30, 2023 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will follow at 11:30 A.M. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
