Maria Petra Herrera

She went to be with our Lord, Maria Petra Herrera, 84, a Devoted Catholic entered into eternal rest on Holy Thursday on her birthday April 14, 2022, a beloved daughter, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.  Maria is preceded in death by her loving parents  Jose Vazquez Padilla and Agustina Rodriguez, her husband Abel Herrera Lucero her loving children; Abel Herrera Jr., Hugo Herrera, Maria Del Carmen Herrera and Martha Elva Herrera siblings: Santiago Vasquez, Concepcion Sanchez Vazquez. She is survived by her loving daughter Carmen Huerta and beloved son-in-law Juan Antonio Huerta Jr., siblings; Martha Antillon Vazquez and Gabino Vazquez.  She also leaves behind her pride and joy grandchildren; Christina Luviano, Abel Herrera III, Emily Fernandez, Juan A. Huerta III, Angel Huerta and Andrea Huerta and 8 great-grandchildren to cherish and honor her memory.  Maria is also survived by many extended friends and family that loved her deeply.  Maria left beautiful memories from everyone that knew her, her gentle face and patient smile will always be remembered along with her cheerful and a welcoming disposition that she never met a stranger and will truly be missed.  

Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 8:00pm with a Rosary at 6:00pm on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.  Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00am on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama Street.  Committal Service to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.
