Maria Gonzalez Guerra

El Paso – Maria G “Sukie” Guerra, age 84, joined our Lord in heaven on Friday January 29, 2021. Sukie was born in Presidio, Texas on July 29, 1936 to Maria Carrasco Gonzalez and Eliseo Gonzalez. Sukie is survived by husband Ramon, the love of her life, married for 65 years; daughters Irma (Charlie) Alvarado and Debi (David) Flitman; brothers Frank, Leandro and Lorenzo Gonzalez; grandchildren Christine (Manny) Maldonado and William (Lauren) Daugherty, and great grandchildren Dylan, Jordana and Jack. Sukie enjoyed life and always shared her positive outlook and wit with whoever she encountered. She was active in the Catholic Church as a Minister of Communion and with the St Pius Choir. Following her graduation from Jefferson High in 1955, she had a wonderful career as a civil servant working with the military at White Sands and Fort Bliss where she was recognized for her outstanding contributions. She enjoyed traveling the world with her Ramon, participating in dance classes and spending time with her many friends and family. The Holy Rosary Service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 5:30pm, with a Prayer Service to follow at 6:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home West. Graveside Service will be held privately on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
