Maria Isabel Gonzales

Maria Isabel (Chavela) Gonzales, 91, passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2012. Known by many as "Nana," she was born in Smeltertown, and was a lifelong resident of El Paso. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Manuel Gonzales. She is survived by her children, Grace Flores, Carmen Perales, Ricardo Gonzales, and Hortencia Jimenez; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Antonio Escandon, Sr. The family expresses its sincere gratitude to Juanita Manzano, who cared for "Nana" for four years. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm, Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home-West with a Vigil at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 am, Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Santa Teresita Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
