Maria Fernandez

Maria S. Fernandez, 85, went into the loving arms of our Lord and ended her long battle with various illnesses on Sunday, August 28, 2011 in El Paso, Texas. Mary taught her daughters the meaning of independence, responsibility and hard work by example. She was always there to support her family with unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad and Candelaria Saenz; the father of her children, Benjamin Fernandez; granddaughter, Sandra Garcia; and great-grandson, Nathaniel Jenkins. She is survived by her daughters: Haydee Chavez (Estel), Julie Jenkins (Ron), and Irma Prestridge (Max); brother, Adolfo Saenz; sister, Alicia Saenz; grandchildren: Veronica Chavez, Patricia, Rhonda, Ron Jr., Jessica Jenkins, and John Garcia; and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 5-9pm with a Vigil/Rosary to begin at 7pm Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. A Scripture Service will be held at 11am, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ron Jenkins, Ron Jenkins, Jr., Max Prestridge, John Garcia, Noel Saenz, and Daniel Saenz. Her words of wisdom and advice will stay with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren forever.
