Maria E. Sotelo

Maria Esperanza “Espie” Sotelo, 92, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 07, 2024. Espie was born in Chihuahua City, Chih, Mexico on March 30, 1931. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend; and will be greatly missed. She married her one and only true love, Oscar Gamez Sotelo in 1955. They were married for 63 years of lasting love and happiness. Espie was a woman of faith who endured obstacles (Luke 1:45) Caring for her family, gardening, cooking, music, dancing, nature, bird lover and daily newspaper readings were her passions. She cared for her family unselfishly with abundance of unconditional love.

Espie is preceded in death by her parents; Jose Felix and Severina Solis Felix; her loving husband, Oscar Gamez Sotelo; her son; Hector Sotelo, her siblings, Elvira Solis, Jesus Solis, Agustin Felix, Raul Felix, Carmen Bailey and Consuelo Sanchez. She is survived by her dearest children, Elsa Keys (Mike), Oscar Sotelo Jr. (Hilda), Benjamin Sotelo (Julie) and Maria McCool (Gerald); her grandchildren, Tesia Swanstrom, Atheal Flores (Arturo), Joshua Swanstrom, Eric Swanstrom (Kim), Angelique Sotelo, Dominique Sotelo, Lina Cardenas (Jose), August Quinn (Richard), Oscar Sotelo III, Audrey McCool, Benjamin Sotelo and Luke Sotelo and her great-grandchildren, Selene Swanstrom, Adein Sotelo, Riley Swanstrom, Arturo Flores, Adan Flores and Stefan Swanstrom.

She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.
