Maria De La Luz Almeida

Maria De La Luz Almeida, age 87, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 28, 2024. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother and aunt; and will be greatly missed. Maria is preceded in death by her parents; Julia Corral De Olivas and Jose De La Luz Olivas; her loving husband; Hipolito Almeida and sister; Maria Micaela Olmos. She is survived by her dearest daughter; Monica Almeida; her sister; Maria Agueda Olivas; as well as several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many extended family and friends to cherish and honor her memory.

Maria was a lifelong member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she spent countless hours serving God and her community, her life’s calling. Maria’s small group, Pequeña Comunidades de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe was most special to her. Maria had a true love for cooking and feeding people. Whether it was for the annual Saints Peter and Paul Kermes or making dozens of gorditas and empanadas for her family and friends, she loved and nurtured us through her food.

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a Rosary at 11:00 am on Friday, October 4, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr., El Paso, TX 79907 A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, October 04, 2024 at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 673 Old Hueco Tanks Rd, El Paso, TX 79927; followed by a Graveside Service at 2:00 pm at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907.

Services are entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, 9521 N. Loop Dr., El Paso, Texas 79907. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church El Paso Texas, St Jude Children’s Hospital, or Mini-Mutts Animal Rescue Dallas Metroplex.
