Rachel Bazan, 66 returned home to the Lord on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.
Rachel was born Maria Raquel Bazan on May 27, 1951 in Las Cruces, N.M. Her family moved to El Paso where she remained. She was a long-time member and supporter of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
She worked as a Social Worker to pay her way through college. She graduated from UTEP in El Paso with a degree in Education.
Rachel then poured herself into her love of children. She was a Bilingual educator in the El Paso School District for 28 years. She was genuinely loved and admired by her peers and her students until she retired. Then she began a second career with the El Paso Police Department as a civilian employee.
Rachel was preceded in death by her parents: Zeferino and Aurora Bazan and her brother, Robert Bazan. Lovingly supporting each other in mourning are her brothers: Zef, Jaime, Rick and Mario Bazan and sisters: Alice Banegas and Lettie Tarpley along with their spouses, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and God-children.
Family and friends are invited to a Gathering of Remembrance from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with a Scripture Service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass. Interment will be private.
