Maria Isabel Almeida

Beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend, went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 25, 2008. Isabel, you will always be remembered for your laughter, your smile and your zest for life. God our Father, we turn to you in our grief and ask that you put your hand in ours and stay close to us as we walk this painful path. Be our true comfort in the midst of our sorrow. Isabel leaves behind her best friend and husband of thirty years, Manuel Almeida, Jr., her beloved children, Jonathan and Crystal. Parents: Donaciano and Rosaura Hernandez; Siblings: Eddie (Susan), Sylvia, Lori, Mary (John) and Javier (Angie) Hernandez; Parents-in-law: Manuel and Margarita Almeida; Sisters-in-law: Mari (Julian), Lily (Jaime), Christina (Jose Luis). Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, students and colleagues at Desert Hills Elementary. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Dr. Jesus Gomez, and Envision Hospice for their care and support. Visitation services will be held from 4:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.on Sunday, October 26, 2008 with rosary at 7:00 p.m. at sunset Funeral Home (Americas Ave. and North Loop). Holy mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on October 27, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church (North Loop and Old Hueco Tanks Rd.). Interment will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery (Montana Ave.).
