Margarita Diaz

Margarita Herrera Diaz, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother answered the Lord’s call to be in HIS heavenly presence for eternity on January 27, 2018. Margarita was born on February 16, 1928. She was preceded by her husband, Victor Manuel Diaz Sr. and her siblings Gilberto Herrera, Alfredo Herrera, Enrique Herrera, Raul Herrera, Alfonso Herrera, and Carmen Herrera Escobedo. Margarita retired from the El Paso Independent School District after 20 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society. Margarita was an active volunteer at the Wellington Chew Senior Citizen’s Center for 20 years. She was also an active member of the Wellington Chew Senior Citizen’s Center Silverettes and Silverados Dance Group, a group that performed throughout the city. Margarita was inducted into the Wellington Chew Senior Citizen’s Center Hall of Fame in recognition of outstanding volunteer contributions to the good and welfare of the Wellington Chew Senior Citizen’s Center. Margarita is survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her children include Victor Manuel Jr. (Grace) Diaz, Linda (David) Garcia, Richard (Jane) Diaz, and Rosemary Diaz. Her grandchildren include Victor Michael III (Sharon) Diaz, Brandi Marie Garcia, Stacie Elizabeth Diaz and Richard Allen Diaz. Her great-grandchildren include Haven Mish, Madison Grace Diaz, Gabriella Marie Diaz and Stella-Rae Victoria Diaz. A visitation for Margarita will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast from 5-9 PM with a vigil/rosary at 7 PM. The funeral mass will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The committal service will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
