Margaret Grace Mitchell, passed away April 27, 2018. She came to El Paso with her Military husband and made it her home of over fifty years. She was a resident of West Virginia, the daughter of Jasper and Mary Ault Hedrick. During her long and successful life she traveled to most of the U.S. and several foreign countries simultaneously pursuing a career with the Government, beginning at The Army Chemical Center, Edgewood Arsenal, MD; (first day on the job she was fitted with Gas Mark which she kept in her desk), at the Washington, DC Army Office Chief Staff, Pentagon; Hg. Material Command, Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton Ohio. After arriving in El Paso, she continued her career at White Sands Missile Range, NM where she retired as Management Analyst. After retirement she became involved in Community activities: member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Real Estate Agent; President, ITC Four Corners Region, High Priestess, Ladies Oriental Shrine, NA: Charter Member Wallace Houston OES, No. 1100; President, Woman’s Club; PEO Chapter N; Women’s dept Chamber of Commerce, Volunteer at Sierra Medical Center; presently a member of 1st Presbyterian Church. She was a talented lady, loved entertaining friend, quilting, painting and writing. She authored Flanagan Hill History and Memories.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Two brother, Robert Kent and James Willie Hedrick; husband Max H. Hamlin preceded her in death. Max is buried at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. She is survived by her husband Renzo Mitchell, El Paso, TX; son James, wife Judy and precious granddaughters, Ashley and Stacey; great-granddaughter Julia Alise Davis, St Helens, OR; stepson George and wife Cheryl, Chicago Hts., IL; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Funeral Service beginning at 6:00pm on Thursday, May 03, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast in El Paso, TX. Final services will be held at Hinkle Funeral Home in Davis, WV. Interment will be at the family plot Flanagan Hill Cemetery in Red Creek, WV. www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net
