Manuel G. Torres, 84, went home to Heaven on November 24, 2009. He was a loving son, brother, husband, awesome father, and devoted grandfather. He was a devout Catholic and served the church his entire life. He set the example to his family and friends of always putting God FIRST. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the USS New Orleans destroyer and was proud to honor his country. He was loved by all who came in contact with him and will be missed dearly. He is survived by his wife Elvira Torres, daughter Gloria Torres Kwasnick, sons Juan Manuel and Jose Roman Torres. Grandchildren Melaney, Jewel, Sarah, Jezerel, Moriah Torres, and Kourtney Kwasnick. Pallbearers will be Juan Manuel, Jose Roman, David, Gilbert, Paul Torres, and Vince Kwasnick. Visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, and Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:15 pm on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
