Manuel Ruiz, 94, passed away on July 20, 2023.  Among other attributes, he will be remembered as a beloved, devoted and loyal husband and father, loving grandfather, and master jeweler. Manuel was born on August 6, 1928 in Pasadena, California; he had six older sisters. Shortly after his birth, his family returned to Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.  He became a permanent resident of El Paso in 1952 after marrying Julia Garcia de Ruiz, his beloved wife of 70 years.  They established themselves in several El Paso communities, forming lifelong friendships, many through their active participation in various Catholic churches. For more than 25 years, Manuel owned and operated Manny Ruiz and Sons - Jewelry Consultants. He formed special bonds with the El Paso jewelry business community, and is considered “el maestro” to many. He lost his right leg to an accident at the age of fourteen; however, Manuel did not appear disabled until sometime in the 21st century, due to his perseverance and grit.  Those who knew and loved him will never forget his hard work ethic, love of music, infectious sense of humor, hearty laugh, many sayings (dichos) and words to live by. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Julia, their two sons, Manuel and José (Pepe). He is survived by his children:  Gloria Ruiz-Myers (Tom), Carmen Ruiz Erivez (Joe), Ramon Ruiz (Sylvia), Javier Ruiz (Linda), Ricardo Ruiz (Carmelita Jimenez), and Julie Ruiz Gonzales (Sergio), eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews. 

Manuel Ruiz, de 94 años, falleció el 20 de julio de 2023. Entre otros atributos, será recordado como un amado, fiel y dedicado esposo y padre, cariñoso abuelo y maestro joyero. Manuel nació el 6 de agosto de 1928 en Pasadena, California.  Tuvo seis hermanas mayores. Al poco tiempo de su nacimiento, su familia regresó a Chihuahua, Chihuahua, México. Fue residente permanente de El Paso desde 1952, después de casarse con Julia García de Ruiz, su amada esposa de 70 años. Se establecieron en varias comunidades de El Paso, formando amistades por vida, muchas por medio de su participación en varias iglesias católicas. Durante más de 25 años, Manuel fue propietario de Manny Ruiz and Sons - Jewelry Consultants. Formó lazos especiales con la comunidad joyera de El Paso y muchos lo consideran “el maestro”. Debido a un accidente, perdió la pierna derecha a la edad de catorce años. Sin embargo, nunca se consideró o actuó discapacitado, debido a su perseverancia y ánimo.  Aquellos que lo conocieron y amaron nunca olvidarán su determinación al trabajo, amor por la música, sentido de humor, risa contagiosa y sus dichos famosos. Le precedieron en la muerte su amada esposa Julia, sus dos hijos, Manuel y José (Pepe). Le sobreviven sus hijos: Gloria Ruiz-Myers (Tom), Carmen Ruiz Erivez (Joe), Ramón Ruiz (Sylvia), Javier Ruiz (Linda), Ricardo Ruiz (Carmelita Jiménez) y Julie Ruiz Gonzales (Sergio), dieciocho nietos, dieciséis bisnietos e innumerables sobrinas y sobrinos.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 PM, Thursday, July 27, 2023 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 11700 Pebble Hills . Interment will follow at 1:30 PM at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana.
