Manuel Gutierrez (82) passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Tuesday, May 30, 2012. Born in El Paso on February 9, 1930, he was a life-long resident of El Paso and a member of the Catholic Church. He attended Franklin Elementary and Bowie High Schools . He served in the United States Army (Korean War veteran) and retired from Ft. Bliss Civil Services in 1991. He was a devoted and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and Tata. We have truly lost a great person. His memory will forever burn in our hearts. Preceded in death by his wife, Margarita, he is survived by his children Daniel Gutierrez (Carol), Alma Lopez (Jose Luis), Norma Hernandez (Alfonso), grandchildren Eric (Angie), Luis, Joshua, Ray, Patrick, Gabriel, Matthew, and Sarah (Efren), and great-grandchildren Josephine, Sophia, and Elijah. Sincere thanks to Dr. Michael Traylor and his nurse, Myrna, for treating our father with such love and kindness. We would also like to thank Dr. Valillis, Jessica (Matrix) and a special thanks to Envision Hospice for assisting us in giving our father his greatest wish. Visitation (5-9pm) and Rosary (7pm) at Sunset Funeral Home (Northeast) on Sunday, June 3, 2012. Funeral Mass (10am) on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and Interment immediately following at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery . Pallbearers: Eric, Ray, and Matthew Gutierrez, Joshua and Patrick Davila, Luis and Gabriel Lopez and Honorary Pallbearer: Elijah Gutierrez.
